Are there Tiny Houses in Spring Hill Florida?

Are there Tiny Houses in Spring Hill Florida?

Watching TV these days, the nation appears to have been swept up in the tiny house phenomena. It sure is fascinating to see how all the functions of a "normal" house are being fit into a tiny space, sometimes just a couple hunded square feet.

So just for fun, are there tiny houses in the Spring Hill Florida area?

A search in the Multiple Listing Service brought up 28 homes that had less than 1000 square feet of living space. Living space is defined as all space that is heated and air conditioned.

Tiny House Photo by Silvia Dukes The smallest living space currently available is 400 square feet with two bedrooms, family room, kitchen and bath.  However, this space is part of a larger pole barn structure sitting on over 13 acres of land.  With all that land, raising chickens and planting your own beans and corn would be a viable option and a good step forward for anyone who wants to live a self sustainable life.

The next size up is an old Florida "cracker" house built in 1949 with 682 square feet of living area.

While there are certainly some smaller homes available in our area, sizewise they are starting at the larger end of what is considered a "tiny" home of 100-400 square feet.

So what about tiny manufactured homes?

A search for manufactured homes under 400 square feet returned three homes ranging from 208 to 280 square feet in living area. To be fair, here again, each one of these tiny houses had some additional space that is not under heat and air but could be used for storage or outdoor living.

Looking for a Tiny or Small House in Spring Hill, Florida?

Turns out that there are not many "truly tiny" houses in the Spring Hill area.  There are however, quite a few homes that are smaller, more compact, and could be well suited for anyone who is looking for a starter home, looking to down size or simplify life.  Smaller homes may also a good option for those who will be using the home as a vacation or winter home for only a few months of the year.

While I'm not ready to live in a tiny home, they do fascinate me.  I love seeing how they fit everything they need into the space.

Kathy Streib me too, some of them seem extreme to the point of unpractical for daily living.

Good morning Silvia. Tiny homes are fascinating but not for me! Enjoy your day!

Silvia the 400 sq ft house you found on the MLS would be a mansion in size compared to some the the tiny houses I have seen on HGTV.   I have never understood what the attraction is for tiny homes, even for a single person.

Sheila Anderson  yes, it would be nice to have a little getaway cabin by the sea!

Wayne Martin  it's not for everyone, I like a little more space myself as well.

George Souto I thought the same thing. I've seen spare bedrooms bigger than than some of the tiny houses.

Silvia how fun!  I'm guessing I'd find some 'tiny houses' in my neck of the woods too!  As for this gal......no thanks to a tiny house - especially one on wheels.

Anna Banana Kruchten did you notice that many of the new "tiny" houses are actually constructed on wheels?  Why not just get an RV or a manufactured home I wonder?

Yes, TV is making these types of homes popular I guess. Interesting that you have found some in Spring Hill.
