Hi Ron, for a smaller club, you do a lot! Our club is also rather small with about 20 members. We do get a lot of visitors in the winter months (snow birds) who are doing their "make ups" with us. There are two other Rotary Clubs in our County but I really like the smaller size of our club. As a newcomer, I don't feel like I am getting "lost" in a large organization.
We sponsor Interact as well and we support a local shelter for women and children. We also have an annual event for the middle schools called "brain bowl", I'm sure I'll be getting involved with that next year. As far as fundraisers, we sell Christmas wreaths, basically taking orders and they get delivered straight from the farm to the customer. If you are interested, I will get you the information of the supplier.
There is probably much more that I am not aware of and I am glad I joined. It's a great organization! Congratulations on being President and good luck!
Hi Everyone! I was so excited to find Rotary on Activerain! I just got back from our weekly breakfast and was looking for new ideas to blog about, typed "rotary" into search and found you Silvia. Thank you. I recently became a member last fall here in the Carolina Forest area of Myrtle Beach. I have to say I am so happy I joined! If there are any of you out there reading this don't hesitate, join your local club. There is no better way to support your local community, make a difference all over the world and become great friends with people you may never had the opportunity to meet before joining. I look forward to coming back sharing more and getting great ideas from other postings! Have a great day!
Hi! I'm a relatively new member of the Burke Rotary Club, and I, too, am delighted to see that Rotary has a presence on ActiveRain. We're a small club, under 20 members, and a fun, relaxed group of very supportive people. I've learned that you really need to step outside the bounds of a local club to really see the big picture of what Rotary is all about. I'll be looking forward to checking out the blogs in this new group!

Welcome Mary! I admit I've had a long absence from blogging... hope to be here more frequently to share Rotary information and ideas!
Thanks for the creation of this group. I am a Rotarian in Frisco, TX with the Sunrise group. Smaller club that our noon but great group of men and women doing great things! If in Frisco, come eat breakfast with us- my treat!
Hi Geoffrey and welcome! Our club is also a smaller one but we are very active. Love to have breakfast with your group and of course, you'll be more than welcome in Spring Hill, FL!
So happy to find you here! I am a Rotary geek and REALTOR from Anacortes Washington! I joined Rotary about three years ago - all I knew was that my grandfather was a DG from Walla Walla, WA and that Rotary was very important to him. I thought it was a little old-fashioned. Since then, I have grown to truly love and appreciate Rotary and their work in this world. The terms of the recent Gates grant to eradicate polio is a true testament to the integrity and efficiency of this organization. I look forward to hearing from more Rotarians on Active Rain!
Oh - one more thing! I am in Fidalgo Island Rotary (one of two in Anacortes) and we are a Tuesday breakfast club if you are ever in the area!
Hi Meredith and welcome! Another breakfast club member... just like ours... we really are "hard core" Rotarians to get up that early, aren't we?
Sylvia - I'm so glad to have found this group! My 200 member club just nominated me as their new president-elect, so I look forward to some support from this group. Thanks for starting this.
Tim
P.S. Ich spreche ein bischen Deutsch. Duetsch war mein Hauptfach an der Universitat, seit 25 Jahren...
Hello Tim, welcome to our group and congratulations on your nominations! I'm sure you are looking forward to an interesting year and the one to follow as well! Rotary is a wonderful organization, worthwhile and fulfilling in so many ways! Looking forward to your posts that are sure to come!
Alles Gute! Silvia
