There are many bridges great and small in the greater Tampa Bay area but this is one of my favorites! This is truly a bridge that can leave you speechless offering views that can take your breath away. The Sunshine Skyway bridge connects St. Petersburg with Bradenton in Florida. This drive took place Friday, March 27, 2009 with photos taken through the windshield. Enjoy!

I was in Florida last week and I have to agree this is an awesome bridge.
Hi Silvia,
What a wonderful "photo shoot!" I wish I were in sunny Florida today rather than in cloudy California!
Happy Sunday!
Michael
I miss Tampa Bay area! I made that drive a few times when I lived in the area. I bet the weather is awesome right now! ~Rita

I grew up crossing this bridge each time we visited my Grandparents...but it wasn't so beautiful then...thanks for this trip...
I got to go over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in 1995. I think that was either a year after, or a year before, that ship ran into it. Definitely one of the most unusual and scenic bridges. For me it ranked right up there with the Golden Gate Bridge, each beautiful in their own unique ways.
Connie, it's unsual with the bright yellow paint.
Michael, clouds in CA? Shouldn't that be a good thing?
Rita, it's still a bit unpredictable but it's getting warmer!
janeAnne, your are welcome! I think there was an older bridge before that has been made into fishing piers from both sides.
Jim, I love the way the perspective of the supports changes a you drive across it. The engineering of bridges is amazing! Thanks for stopping by.
Silvia, Absolutely gorgeous views. Tampa is such a beautiful place! I love it on your side of the state.
